Professional Background

I am currently President and Owner of The Whitney Companies where I coach and mentor Independent Business Owners.  I have more than 40 years experience at all levels of management within very diverse organizational structures. I have served as EVP and Chief Operating Officer for Global Digital Utilities Corporation, an international educational technology company and CEO & President of the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools, an International association of private business schools. I have also served at the United States Department of Education as Assistant Secretary for Vocational and Adult Education and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Higher Education Programs. Earlier in my career, I was Corporate Risk Manager for Crowell, Collier and Macmillan, a large multi-national conglomerate and held senior management roles in retailing (including Macy’s and Brentano’s), direct marketing, and insurance organizations. I was a two-time candidate for the U.S. Congress in Connecticut’s 3rd Congressional District. Having a track record of management success in business, government, and the non-profit world allows me to bring a variety of real world experience and success to the classroom.

I have more than 30 years’ classroom facilitation experience beginning with the United States Navy and including proprietary Insurance schools in New York; as adjunct faculty at the University of New Haven and the Greater New Haven State Technical College; Corporate management training, facilitation, and mentoring at Deltek Systems, Inc. and Future Force Training Corp.; Entrepreneurship training at the Women's Business Center; and almost 5 years as a facilitator at the Reston, VA campus of the University of Phoenix.

I earned an MBA from the University of New Haven in Connecticut and completed my undergraduate education in Risk Management and Finance at St. Johns University.
